Chemicals sector rail traffic flat YOY for last week

Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America was roughly flat year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 28 December 2013, at 36,197 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was up 0.3%, to 26,653 cars. Canadian traffic fell 1.5%, to 8,349 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 3.2%, to 1,195 cars. Overall, North American freight rail traffic increased 5.8% YOY during the week ended 28 December 2013, to 300,453 cars, AAR says.
