Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals sector rail traffic falls 9.8%; full-year traffic down 1.8%2:12 PM MST | January 3, 2013 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America declined 9.8% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 29 December, to 36,228 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was down 7.3%, to 26,571 cars. Canadian traffic fell 18.3%, to 8,499 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 6.5%, to 1,158 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week’s totals. The week included the Christmas holiday. For the year ended 29 December, the North American chemicals sector generated 2,145,166 cars of rail traffic, down 1.8% from 2011 levels...
