Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 9.4%9:45 AM MDT | May 20, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 9.4% year-on-year last week, to 42,979 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR) says. U.S. traffic was up 8%, to 30,683 cars. Canadian traffic rose 12.1%, to 10,975 cars, while Mexican traffic rose 20% to 1,321 cars. U.S. traffic rose from the prior week's totals, while Canadian and Mexican traffic fell. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 2.1% year-on-year, to 384,208 cars, AAR says.
