Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 7.9%5:38 PM MDT | June 9, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 7.9% year-on-year last week, to 40,493 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 8.1%, to 28,633 cars. Canadian traffic rose 9.9%, to 10,921 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 15.6%, to 939 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week's totals, though it rose in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 1.6% year-on-year last week, to 362,093 cars, AAR says.
