Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 5%10:19 AM MDT | September 3, 2010 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 5% year-on-year last week, to 45,451 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported. U.S. traffic was up 1.8%, to 29,763 cars. Canadian traffic rose 15%, to 14,722 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 21.2%, to 966 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals in the U.S. and Canada. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 8.2% year-on-year last week, to 392,331 cars. Year-to-date chemicals sector traffic is up 14.3% from 2009 levels, to 1,505,370...
