Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 5%

Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 5% year-on-year last week, to 45,451 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported. U.S. traffic was up 1.8%, to 29,763 cars. Canadian traffic rose 15%, to 14,722 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 21.2%, to 966 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals in the U.S. and Canada.
