Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 4.7%1:39 PM MST | February 3, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 4.7% year-on-year last week, to 43,561 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 3.2%, to 30,828 cars. Canadian traffic rose 12.1%, to 11,891 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 23.9%, to 842 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals, except in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 4.8% year-on-year last week, to 377,677 cars. Chemicals sector traffic is up 6.9% year-to-date, at 169,927...
