Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 16.9%3:03 PM MDT | October 21, 2010 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 16.9% year-on-year last week, to 45,495 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported. U.S. traffic was up 9.3%, to 28,633 cars. Canadian traffic rose 35.7%, to 15,755 cars, continuing a months-long strong rebound. Mexican traffic rose 0.3%, to 1,107 cars. Traffic was up from the prior week's totals, and the year-on-year rate of increase rose, as well. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 10.8% year-on-year, to 395,724 cars.
