Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 13%

North American chemicals sector rail traffic rose 13% year-on-year last week, to 45,354 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported today. U.S. traffic was up 9%, to 28,476 cars. Canadian traffic rose 22.9%, to 15,887 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 9.8%, to 991 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week's totals overall and in the U.S., though it rose in Canada and Mexico.
