Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 13.9%4:55 PM MST | January 6, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 13.9% year-on-year last week, to 45,074 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported today. U.S. traffic was up 12.1%, to 29,318 cars. Canadian traffic rose 19.4%, to 14,987 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 12.3%, to 769 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals, though both weeks were affected by the holiday season. Overall, freight rail traffic in North America rose 6.9% year-on-year last week, to 311,662 cars.
