Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 10.8%5:20 PM MDT | September 23, 2010 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 10.8% year-on-year last week, to 44,969 cars, the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington) reported. U.S. traffic rose 5.3%, to 29,053 cars. Canadian traffic was up 24.9%, to 14,836 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 0.7%, to 1,080 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week, which included the Labor Day holiday in the U.S. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 8.7% last week, to 392,204 cars, AAR says.
