Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Rises 1.9%10:08 AM MDT | May 11, 2012 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 1.9% year-on-year during the week ended May 5, to 43,809 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 0.9%, to 30,442 cars. Canadian traffic rose 7.6%, to 12,202 cars, while Mexican traffic fell 21.9%, to 1,165 cars. Overall, North American freight rail traffic fell 0.7% during the week ended May 5, to 371,181 cars.
