Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Falls 0.6%3:43 PM MDT | September 8, 2011 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America fell 0.6% year-on-year last week, to 42,248 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). Traffic in the U.S. fell 3.2%, to 30,140 cars. Canadian traffic rose 4.8%, to 10,821 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 20.7%, to 1,287 cars. Traffic rose from the prior week's totals. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 0.5% year-on-year last week. To 397,320 cars, AAR says.
