Regions :: North America :: Canada Chemicals Sector Rail Traffic Falls 0.3%4:34 PM MDT | June 21, 2012 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America fell 0.3% year-on-year during the week ended June 16, to 41,820 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). U.S. traffic was up 0.8%, to 29,575 cars. Canadian traffic fell 2.8%, to 10,810 cars, while Mexican traffic was down 3.6%, to 1,435 cars. Traffic fell from the prior week’s totals, though it rose in Mexico. Overall, North American freight rail traffic fell 2.7% year-on-year during the week ended June 16, to 378,982 cars, AAR says.
