Agrium first-quarter earnings to be flat on slow spring start

Agrium announced today that it expects its first-quarter earnings per share, to be released on 6 May, to be “just above breakeven.” The company says the slow start to the spring season is expected to impact its wholesale segment and, to a lesser extent, its retail segment earnings. Wholesale results are also expected to be impacted by reduced rail availability and the usual lag in realized wholesale nutrient prices, the company says.
