ABB to supply hoisting systems to BHP's potash project in Canada

ABB (Zurich) has been selected by BHP Billiton (Melbourne) to supply mine-hoisting systems for the Jansen Potash Project, located 130 kilometers east of Saskatoon, SK, ABB announced. The contract includes the overall design, manufacturing, supply, and installation of four complete mine-hoist systems to be delivered in 2015–18. BHP announced in August 2012 that the delivery and start-up of the Jansen project would be delayed owing to increasing production costs and poor conditions in the potash market, as reported by CW.
