UN Proposes Six Substances for 'Watch List' Status

The United Nations has recommended adding several pesticides and industrial chemicals to the UN “watch list.”  The listing is part of the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) procedure, and is designed to ensure that hazardous chemicals do not endanger human health and the environment. However, inclusion on the list is not a recommendation for an international ban or severe restriction of the use of the substance, the UN says.
