Study says fracking disclosure registry FracFocus deficient

A Harvard Law School study says disclosure of chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing via FracFocus—a voluntary registry endorsed by 11 states and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM)—fails as a regulatory compliance tool. The report found that FracFocus makes it difficult for states to enforce timely disclosure requirements, does not provide to reporting companies guidance on how to account for state disclosure requirements not covered by FracFocus, and allows reporting companies to be the sole judge of whether or not trade secret status applies...
