Stepan acquires Brazil sulfonation plant from P&G

Stepan says it has acquired a sulfonation production plant in Bahia, Brazil from Procter & Gamble (P&G), for an undisclosed sum. The plant, in the country’s northeast, has a capacity of 30,000 m.t./year and the deal is expected to close in the second half of this year, subject to approval by Brazilian authorities and closing conditions. No financial terms were disclosed, however the acquisition should have “minimal” impact on Stepan’s 2014 financial results, the company says. Stepan utilizes a continuous falling film sulfonation...
