Regions :: North America Solvay to Add Sulfur Surcharge11:19 AM MDT | May 6, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Solvay Chemicals, a Solvay subsidiary, says it will add a sulfur surcharge on all sulfite products, effective May 1, because of an “unprecedented” rise in sulfur costs. The surcharge is about 3.5 cts on sodium metabisulfite and bisulfate and 2.5 cts on sodium sulfite products and will be adjusted quarterly based on change in sulfur costs compared with the first quarter of 2008, Solvay says.
