Shell shelves $12.5-billion US Gulf GTL project

Shell will not move forward with a proposed 140,000-bbl/day gas-to-liquids (GTL) project in Louisiana and will suspend all further work on the project, the company has announced. Shell says it has carefully evaluated a number of development options for GTL on the US Gulf Coast using natural gas feedstocks. “We are making tough choices here, focusing our efforts and capital on the most attractive opportunities in our worldwide portfolio," says Peter Voser, CEO of Shell.
