Ranbaxy Launches Generic Version of Lipitor

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first generic version of Pfizer’s cholesterol-lowering drug Lipitor - atorvastatin calcium tablets. Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals (Jacksonville, FL) USA, a subsidiary of Ranbaxy Laboratories (Gurgaon, India) received final approval from the FDA to manufacture and market atorvastatin and has launched the product in the U.S. market on December 1.
