Piedmont Chemical partners with DuPont, Myriant to launch 100% biobased polyol

Piedmont Chemical (Highpoint, NC) says it has launched a line of 100% renewable polyester polyols that combines DuPont Tate & Lyle Bioproducts propanediol (PDO) and Myriant (Cambridge, MA) succinic acid. The polyols are functionally equivalent and cost-competitive with petroleum-derived polyols. DuPont Tate & Lyle Bioproducts operates a 140 million lbs/year PDO facility at Loudon, TN.
