Regions :: North America Piedmont Chemical partners with DuPont, Myriant to launch 100% biobased polyol2:43 PM MST | December 4, 2012 | Rebecca Coons Piedmont Chemical (Highpoint, NC) says it has launched a line of 100% renewable polyester polyols that combines DuPont Tate & Lyle Bioproducts propanediol (PDO) and Myriant (Cambridge, MA) succinic acid. The polyols are functionally equivalent and cost-competitive with petroleum-derived polyols. DuPont Tate & Lyle Bioproducts operates a 140 million lbs/year PDO facility at Loudon, TN. Myriant is expected to bring its first commercial-scale unit online in the first quarter of 2013 at Lake Providence, LA. Piedmont will manufacture the initial polyol product...
