Mexichem Plans Ethane Cracker JV with OxyChem

Mexichem (Tlalnepantla, Mexico) says it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Occidental Chemical (OxyChem) to evaluate the formation of a joint venture for the construction of an ethane-based cracker to produce about 500,000 m.t./year of ethylene. The ethylene produced would be used by OxyChem at its Ingleside, TX facility to produce about 1 million m.t./year of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) to be sold to Mexichem under a long-term supply agreement, Mexichem says.
