Gevo opens biobased p-xylene plant

Renewable fuels and chemicals firm Gevo (Englewood, CO) opened a demonstration-scale para-xylene (p-xylene) plant at Silsbee, TX, today. The facility will convert biobased isobutanol produced using Gevo's fermentation technology into p-xylene. The new facility is located adjacent to Gevo's existing jet-fuel plant at Silsbee and will support Gevo's joint development agreements with The Coca-Cola Company and Toray Industries.
