French Senators Propose Restrictions for BPA in Food Containers

A group of nine French Senators have introduced a proposal, or “proposition de loi,” that would restrict bisphenol A (BPA) in certain plastic food containers. The proposal is one of the first, while slight, indications that the U.S. consumer backlash against BPA could spread to Europe. The proposal’s prospects for passage are far from certain, however. It must first be approved by the full Senate and then taken up by the French Parliament, and none of that is likely to happen for at least a month, industry sources say....
