Regions :: North America Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 6.8%11:42 AM MST | December 28, 2012 | Vincent Valk Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 6.8% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 22 December, to 43,527 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was 5.6%, to 30,750 cars. Canadian traffic rose 9.7%, to 11,476 cars, while Mexican traffic increased 10.5%, to 1,301 cars. Overall, North American freight rail traffic increased 1.6% YOY during the week ended 22 December, to 385,353 cars, AAR says.
