Butamax Says it is Leading the Way for Biobutanol Blendstock

While recent biofuels headlines have been dominated by cellulosic ethanol, a biofuels producer backed by industrial biotechnology pioneer DuPont and fuels giant BP has been quietly advancing its biobutanol technology and setting the stage for a 2014 commercial launch. Butamax Advanced Biofuels (Wilmington, DE) says biobutanol can be deployed cheaply via an ethanol plant retrofit package, and is a higher-value, more compatible blendstock for gasoline than ethanol.
