Bayer CropScience to Buy Athenix, a U.S. Biotech Company

Bayer CropScience has agreed to purchase Athenix Corp., (Raleigh, NC), a privately-held biotech company based in the Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. The acquisition is subject to premerger notification to the relevant U.S. authorities. The final price is yet to be disclosed, Bayer CropScience says. Athenix has an extensive herbicide tolerance and insect control trait development platform, particularly for corn and soybean.
