BASF and Toyo Sign Gas Pact

BASF and Toyo Engineering say they have entered into a cooperation agreement to market and sell a gas-purification technology specifically designed to purify synthesis gas (syngas) streams for integrated gasification combined cycle power plants and for plants making chemical products such as methanol. The technology, which will be marketed under the PuraTreat brand name, “has excellent properties to selectively remove sulfur compounds such as hydrogen sulfide or carbonyl sulfide from syngas streams based on coal,” BASF says.
