Report: Oman Chlorine to build chlor-alkali plant at Abu Dhabi

Oman Chlorine (Muscat) is planning a $70-million chlor-alkali plant at Abu Dhabi, according to a Reuters report quoting the company's managing director. The new production would meet demand from the oil and gas sector in the Arab Gulf region, the report adds. The initiative, Union Chloride, is a joint venture between Oman Chlorine and Horizon Energy (Abu Dhabi). The plant will have production capacity for 70 m.t./day of caustic soda, as well as hydrochloric acid and sodium hypochlorite, the report says.
