Borealis Takes LyondellBasell LDPE License for Mideast Plant

Borealis says it has selected the LyondellBasell Lupotech T technology for a 350,000-m.t./year low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plant to be built in the Mideast by 2013. Borealis's Borouge joint venture is planning Borouge 3 at Ruwais, Abu Dhabi by 2014. That complex will be based on an ethane cracker and have combined capacity for 2.5 million m.t./year of polyolefins, including two or three Borstar-process polypropylene plants, depending on unit size.
