Borealis Announces Another Major Venture in Abu Dhabi

Borealis and International Petroleum Investment Co. (IPIC; Abu Dhabi) say they have signed a memorandum of understanding with the Abu Dhabi Investment Council to prepare for the first phase of a project to develop a “chemicals industrial city” in Abu Dhabi. The “multibillion-dollar” project will include a world-scale naphtha cracker and plants producing propylene and ethylene derivatives, as well as a world-scale reformer and xylenes, benzene, cumene, phenol, and derivatives units.
