Tasnee, Cristal, Toho form JV to build titanium sponge plant in Saudi Arabia

Tasnee (Riyadh) and Cristal (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) say they have agreed to form a joint venture with Toho Titanium Co. (Chigasaki, Japan) to build a titanium sponge production facility at Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. The project will require an investment of about $420 million and the titanium sponge unit will have a capacity of 15,600 m.t./year. The unit is expected to start production in the second quarter of 2017 with full production due to be reached in the first quarter of 2018.
