Sipchem stops butanediol plant for expansion and improvements

Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem; Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia) said today that it is stopping its butanediol manufacturing complex as of today for expansion and efficiency improvements. The stoppage will last 35 days. The move follows an award in July of an engineering, procurement and construction contract to eTEC E&C (Seoul) to debottleneck and improve the efficiency and reliability of the complex operated by Sipchem’s subsidiary International Diol Co.
