Saudi Butanol Co. receives government approval to build plant

Saudi Butanol Co. (Sabuco), a joint venture among Saudi Kayan, Sadara, and Saudi Acrylic Acid Co.(SAAC), has been given the go-ahead by the Saudi Ministry of Commerce and Industry to proceed with construction of a butanol plant at Al Jubail. The previously announced plant is expected to cost $517 million. It will be designed to produce 330,000 m.t./year of n-butanol and 11,000 m.t./year of isobutanol and will come onstream in 2015.
