Sahara declares emergency shutdown at polypropylene complex

Sahara Petrochemicals today declared an emergency shutdown at its Al Waha Petrochemical subsidiary at Al Jubail, a producer of propylene and polypropylene (PP). The company cites technical fault in the utilities area, which interrupted production in all of Al Waha’s operating units. Al Waha, a joint venture in which Sahara has 75% and LyondellBasell Industries 25%, operates at propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit and a PP facility.
