Sabic plans crude oil-to-petrochemicals complex by 2020

Sabic said today that it has entered the final stages of preliminary studies to assess the economic viability of building a crude oil-to-petrochemicals manufacturing complex in Saudi Arabia. The technology converts crude oil directly to petrochemicals achieving the highest conversion rate in the industry, Sabic says. The company expects to consume about 10 million m.t./year of crude oil to produce petrochemicals and specialty chemicals, consistent with Sabic’s 2025 strategy.
