Chemanol to restart para-formaldehyde plant by year-end

Methanol Chemicals Co. (Ad Dammām, Saudi Arabia) says that it expects to resume operations at its para-formaldehyde manufacturing plant at Al Jubail by the end of fiscal 2014. The facility was taken off-line last month following a fire. The plant, with a capacity of 8,250 m.t./year, forms part of the company’s old complex, built in 1989. The total financial impact resulting from the incident is about 3 million Saudi riyals ($799,904), which will be reflected in the financial results of the third and fourth quarters.
