Bids for Honam Olefins Unit in Qatar Are Due in October

Commercial bids for a previously announced olefins plant at Mesaieed, Qatar, planned by a 70-30 joint venture between Qatar Intermediate Holdings Co. (Doha), a subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum; and Honam Petrochemical are due in mid-October, CW has learned. The estimated $1-billion lump-sum turnkey contract is due to be awarded in the first quarter of next year. Three consortia have submitted technical proposals for the complex (CW, May 26, p. 19).
