Regions :: Middle East :: Kuwait Equate Shuts Down Ethylene Glycol Plant for Six Weeks Following a Fire4:20 AM MDT | August 2, 2012 | Natasha Alperowicz Equate Petrochemical Co., said today that it has shutdown one of its ethylene glycol units with a total capacity of 550,000 m.t./year. “The shutdown will be for approximately six weeks as a result of the fire that took place on Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Production operations of other units are unaffected and ongoing,” the company said in a statement. Equate, established in 1995, is a joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC; Kuwait City), Dow Chemical, Boubyan Petrochemical Co., and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Co.
