Ashland-Clariant JV sold casting products to Iran

ASK Chemicals, a 50-50 joint venture between Ashland and Clariant, sold granulate, coatings, and hot top metal casting products to Iranian government entities, Ashland said in a regulatory filing. The jv sold about €790,000 ($1.04 million) worth of the products to entities Ashland now believes to be “owned or controlled, directly or indirectly, by the government of Iran” without the required approval of US authorities.   The sales, which emanated from two subsidiaries of ASK, occurred between 1 October 2012 and 31 March 2013.
