Sipchem restarts methanol plant at Al Jubail

Saudi International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) says it has restarted its methanol plant at Al Jubail following an unscheduled stoppage at the plant on 24 July 2012. The company says repair work has been completed on the unit, which restarted production on Friday. The methanol plant is operated by IMC, in which Sipchem has 65% and a group of Japanese companies have the rest. The impact of the stoppage on Sipchem’s financial results will be close to 25 million Saudi riyals ($6.7 million), which will be reflected in the company’s third-quarter...
