Sipchem PBT plant to start production in the fourth quarter

Saudi International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem; Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia) announced today that its affiliate Sipchem Chemicals Co. plans to commission a polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) plant at Al Jubail in the fourth quarter of this year. The plant, designed to produce 63,000 m.t./year of PBT, is currently 77% complete. ThyssenKrupp Uhde is the engineering contractor.   Sipchem is investing about 600 million Saudi riyals ($160 million) in the new facility.
