Researchers identify nanostructures for producing hydrogen via solar power

Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL; Lausanne, Switzerland) and Technion (Kesalsaba, Israel) researchers have identified nanostructures able to produce hydrogen via the use of solar energy, Technion has announced. EPFL researchers, working with Avner Rothschild from Technion, have managed to accurately characterize the iron oxide nanostructures to be used in order to produce hydrogen at low cost via photoelectrochemical cells (PECs). PECs are capable of splitting water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen in a single operation...
