Iran Readies Butene-1 Unit; Feedstock Shortages to Ease

Jam Petrochemical is in the process of starting up its butene-1 manufacturing facility at Assaluyeh, Iran, local reports say. The facility, which required an investment of $85 million, is designed to produce 115,000 m.t./year, making it one of the largest such facilities, according to Mostafa Mortazavi, managing director of Jam Petrochemical. Petrochemical complexes based at Bandar Imam, Arak and Tabriz also manufacture butene-1 but their capacities are much smaller, Mortazavi says.
