ICL reports higher earnings and revenues, investigates mining phosphate outside Israel

,Israel Chemicals Ltd/ (ICL; Tel Aviv) today reported a 6% rise in first quarter net profit, to $305 million, on 9% higher sales, at $1.64 billion, citing strong fertilizer sales, particularly in China. Ebitda was 3% higher, at $445 million, and gross margin advanced from 39.9% in the first quarter of 2012 to 40.2% in the first quarter of this year. The company says that fertilizers, both potash and phosphate, delivered strong growth, with increasing volumes compensating for lower prices.
