European traders decline Asian, Mideast bids for toluene

Traders of European toluene were forced to decline enquiries from Mideast and Asia buyers seeking small volumes of toluene this week despite a open arbitrage on paper, IHS Chemical says. These buyers, such as South Korea, which is a net toluene exporter, have historically obtained their volumes from Asian producers. As a result, EU export licenses for toluene are insufficient for some countries, including India and Pakistan, IHS Chemical says. In addition, the volumes being sought by the buyers—500–1,000 m.t.—also pose a logistical problem...
