Regions :: Middle East Saudi Polymers complex will stay offline longer than expected7:57 AM MST | December 10, 2012 | Natasha Alperowicz National Petrochemical Company (Petrochem; Riyadh) says it expects its newly commissioned petrochemicals complex, operated by Saudi Polymers at Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, to stay offline for longer than first anticipated. Saudi Polymers is owned 65% by Petrochem and 35% by Arabian Chevron Phillips Petrochemical. Commercial production at the complex started on 1 October 2012 but was suspended on 10 November 2012 because some of the units experienced “technical issues, causing these units to not operate as designed,” Petrochem says.
