Reliance reports rise in quarterly profits

Reliance Industries says net profits for its fiscal second quarter, ended 30 September, increased 1.5% compared with the same period of the previous year, to about 54.9 billion Indian rupees ($894 million). Second-quarter sales increased 14.2%, to Rs1.06 trillion. Reliance’s petrochemicals business recorded a 12.8% rise in second-quarter sales compared with the year-ago period, to Rs248.9 billion, with Ebit up 43.9%, to Rs25.04 billion.
