(Nagoya, Japan) and its Toyotsu Rare Earths Orissa subsidiary plan to build a rare earths processing plant in the state of Orissa, India. The project would be a partnership with Indian Rare Earths (IRE) and Shin-Etsu Chemical. It would be designed to "secure a stable supply of rare earth resources," Toyota Tsusho says. Nuclear Power Corp. of India, the parent of IRE, makes rare earth chloride mixtures as a byproduct of the extraction of uranium and thorium from monazite minerals mined and processed from alluvial ore...
